QTL Beginners - Week 1

Never danced before? Danced before but only led? or followed? Danced the cha cha but never the tango? Out of practice? Now's the time to give Queer Tango London a try! Every Monday for 6 weeks from April 9th QTL's Gawaine Preston and Ray Batchelor will be giving a beginners crash course aimed at getting you dancing.

8:30PM - 9:30PM - Class 1: Walking with attitude

“If you can walk without falling over, you can tango.” Gawaine and Adrian will give you the foundations of the dance: walking, walking in couples and walking in couples as a “ronda” or anti-clockwise circle on the dance floor, forwards, as leader, backwards as a follower and sideways for both!

8:30PM - 11:00PM - Practica

Running alongside Class 1 our regular practice space is open. A chance to dance socially and try new steps in a relaxed and friendly environment to a range of tango music, old and new, from our resident DJ Tom Cottle. Refreshments (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) will be available.

QTL’s vision of Tango is an inclusive one: If you want to dance tango – and maybe experiment with who does what, why, and how – we want to encourage that curiosity. You will always be welcome at QTL whoever you wish to dance with.
